Testimonies of Ice
Experience visual artist Maja Friis in conversation with author Pernille Kaufmann about the exhibition Testimonies of Ice, created in collaboration with the Niels Bohr Institute. Pernille Kaufmann (b. 1993) is an author and poet. In 2024, she published Byen L. In addition to Quotes from the Ice, Kaufmann has collaborated with Maja Friis on Fractures of Ice (2026) and Breathing Coral (2022).

A conversation about the potential of art to create public access to research
How can we grasp the wonder of nature if new research is only presented through dissertations and graphs? How can we encounter the world of science in ways that engage us, deepen our sensitivity, spark curiosity, and inspire us to care more deeply for our planet?

Visual artist Maja Friis and author Shëkufe Tadayoni Heiberg explore the potential of art to make us receptive to the complexity and wonder of the world through images and words, and discuss how collaborations between art and research can enrich both fields.

Shëkufe Tadayoni Heiberg (b. 1987) is an author, translator, and publisher at the micro press Uro. Her works include the poetry collection Muld & liv, the sci-fi novels Nødder and Støv & Spind, the dictionary Livets verber, and the sonnet cycle Grundsten.
